A poem in Blood&Bourbon: The Body Bag

My poem ‘The Body Bag’ is out in Blood&Bourbon‘s “companionship” themed summer issue.

The Body Bag
Now I am in a body bag.
No company, no sparks here.
To the core trapped and cursed
deprived
of an orange rose.
What is this colorful zipper for?
Is that the charming oleander
of this darkness?
How many teeth does this zipper have?
How many times have I been poisoned with a shining?
How much strength do I need
to defeat those glamorous executioners
while the orange rose blooms in a faraway land?
Getting old by looking at your pictures was the promise.
Can any faith explain this breathing funeral?
A leak between my lips
tastes of sweat and tears
deep wrinkles
all in my heart, not on my face.
